Angry soundon problem!!!!

hi all! I have a SBLIVE 5.1 and i installed oss398b (open sound) and the installation is fine but when i try to do a test or when i type soundon the following error appears:

"Notice: your current kernel has been compiled without module versioning.
Full kernel compatibility cannot be reliably verified.
Failed to activate the driver."

can someone tell me what the h... is this? do i need to compile again the kernel? is there other drivers that i can use instead of Open Sound?
thx a lot!

you have to compile the kernel with sound as module if you have a 2.4.x kernel you then use alsa-driver a good faq on how to http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml its meant for gentoo but you can use it for any other distribution as well just have to change some things
if you use the 2.6.x kernel you have to compile it again with sound as module and the chipset driver of your soundblaster should be a en... or something like this have a look at your soundblaster manual which chip it uses.
