sound setup on Slackware 9.1

I have just installed my slackware onto my 40 gb hard disk and configured my router & mouse wheel now what is puzzling me is how to setup my sound blaster 4.1 (pci not intergrated) sound card i'm used to mandrake 9.1 so i tried "sndconfig" and it couldn't find it and there doesn't seem to be a gui to configure it. What command or pragram do i need to set it up? (i chose to install "everything 2gb" during the slackware setup but ONE program had an error i think it was called noark could that be the problem?)
please advise im a total slackware n00b btw so you'l have to patronise me! thanks in advance

Slack 9.1 uses alsa for sound by default. Did you setup alsa?

As root run alsaconf. This'll try to autodetect your soundcard and write the required modules.conf file. It'll also unmute your sound card.

That should be it.

If alsa doesn't like your sound card you'll need to rollback to the OSS drivers.

Let us know if you can get Alsa up first....
