sound problem with Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
I get this error window when I log into KDE:
Sound server informational message: Error while initializing the sound driver: device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such device) The sound server will continue, using the null output device. I have a Santa Cruz sound card by turtle beach, as well as the onboard AC'97 chip(which I would rather not use if I didn't have to). I set the permissions on /dev/dsp* and /dev/mixer* to 666, so the perms should be ok. Has anyone had this problem before, or know how to fix it? Thanks |
If you haven't loaded the sound module then you might try
modprobe cs46xx If that produces some errors and fails to load then you should have a look at http://www.alsa-project.org. They appear to list the card as supported. |
:)
Thanks, that worked. I added this to rc.modules: /sbin/modprobe cs46xx |
So that Santa Cruz sound card works pretty good with Linux? And you are using Slackware distro?
I have one of those cards but neva have installed it. I may give it a try now that I know it works! |
