Sound not as loud as Windows XP

I want to know why I can't get my mp3s to play as loud in Linux as they do in Windows XP. Does it have something to do with the Plugins? I can't play mp3s with OSS but I can with arTs.

erm...adjust the volume?

i use cmix ( a command line mixer) so i can increase the main volume to 90% with a command like:
cmix V 90

is that what you were looking for?

The sound is lower for me in Linux, at the same settings on the volume dial on the speaker itself. I don't really get all that worked up over it though.

well the mixer is set to a lower volume
get a mixer and change it

no need to get worked up, but no need to compromise either

I know how to use a damned mixer.

Like I said though, nothing to worry about. It's louder than I need it anyway, when it's turned up all the way.
