Sound in Slackware

I've been trying to get sound working in Slackware 10, with no luck. However, I was thinking. I have Vector installed on a small partition, and sound works on that. Is there any configuration I can copy over to Slackware to get sound to work?

Try running alsaconf from /usr/sbin. This will autodetect your card. If that works go into a volume controler and adjust the volume up as ALSA has everything muted by default. Make sure to increas all the volumes as some of mine had to be increased way down to the far right of the controls on the second tab in the KDE volume controler for me to get sound. Have some music playing and then increase volumes till you hear something. If that does not work check out http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...09#post1088009 as there is a similar post with more solutions posted.

I have tried that, and it doesn't work. That's why I'm thinking if I take a configuration file from Vector and copy it over to Slackware, it may work...

there is no such thing as A configuration file in linux.

Your sound is produced in colaboration of 3 (or more) different sound components (kernel OSS or ALSA module, appropriate card driver module, Settings for that module, sound server under X windows, its settings, music programs that come in at any point of the above chain.) Your problem can be anywhere in this chain.

So my answer is: you need to be more descriptive about your problem:
- your sound card model,
- your slack version (did you do modifications?)
- what is it that you do to find out that there is no sound.
