Sound Card Problem

K, the sound card works. I popped in a audio CD to test it out and it worked; however, when I run the mixer it says I need to check its permission. I already did. Their Chmodded at level 777 and it still doesn't work.

Note: I run a Riptide Audio device. i forget the specific details.

Can you play any other sounds, than CD Audio?

If the mixer panel works as root, but not as a user then it probably is a permission issue. If it doesn't work as root, then it is probably a driver issue. Then what drivers are you using?

Make sure that you check your permissions on /dev/dsp.

chmod 777 /dev/dsp

Its recommended to have permissions of rw-rw-rw which is 666.

chmod 666 /dev/mixer* /dev/dsp*
