I'm running slackware 10.2.0 and I have the following problem.
I installed a very old sound card (Soundblaster 16) and configured it using alsaconf.
During the installation everything looked fine.
All modules were loaded and I have sound when using XINE, XMMS,...
The only thing that is not working is the system sound!
(ex booting up, shutting down,...)
When looking at the messages I can find the following lines
Mar 13 09:07:10 deathstar kernel: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.6 (Sun Aug 15 07:17:53 2004 UTC).
Mar 13 09:07:10 deathstar kernel: ALSA device list:
Mar 13 09:07:10 deathstar kernel: No soundcards found.
... which is very strange because sound works for everything else...
When I look at /var/proc/asound/cards, I get the following result
i was sure I have done it but to be on the safe side, I performed this action again. Still the same result. XMMS plays fine, only the system notifications are not working. When I look in the controle Center for KDE I see that the system notifications use the KDE sound system. Do I have to configure this differently, seperately???
