Well, what do you want to know??
I don't use the ALSA drivers for my SB Live card, I use the emu10k1 driver and emu-tools from the sourceforge site.........My card is digital output only and ALSA makes it sound like crap! So I won't use ALSA at all.
The emu-tools includes a script to enable digital output and surround sound, plus other SB Live features. You just need to make sure your "user" has permissions to access /dev/mixer and /dev/dsp, I use aumix myself and have had no problems playing movies or music CD's, or having good sound while playing games........foobillard, neverputt, neverball, etc....

I wonder why everyone finds it such a problem to use this card? If you have it installed in the machine when you install slackware it runs right out of the box, it can't get much easier really. Now in retrospect I have heard that there were problems with the dell version of this card? But then again we all know thats propriatary bullshit.. :P Just get a _real_ sound card haha

well my problem isn't so much installing the card... it is more getting it to work... yes... using alsamixer the card is found and I unmute everything and raise the sound, and nothing seems to work...

320 mb 's right, why don't u use emu10k1 driver
use the emu10k1 module (available already)
$ modprobe emu10k1
or recompile your kernel to support sblive

if you type lsmod, does it show snd-pcm and snd-emu10k1 and a bunch of others?
