sound blaster clone setup

I'm using slackware9.1 and I installed everything but it didn't detect my sound card whatsoever. alsaconf doesn't detect anything either(not even an ISA card). When I was using redhat, the sndconfig worked because I could manually set up my card as a sound blaster with the default I/O options. It worked perfectly. I tried lookin for sndconfig for slackware but couldn't find anything. I'm guessing I need to edit /etc/modules.conf but I don't know how to edit it. Could anyone give me a quick pointer? Sound card is a SB clone. thanks

I'm having the same problems. Using Slackware 9.1

lspci doesn't see my sound card

it's an isa card w/ a ess1868 chip
I know it's soundblaster compatible because I always installed it as such before.
