Hi there,
the above event usually happens to me when im logged in to xfce my screen suddenly goes black for like 1 sec then my background becomes my background in gnome.. what does this mean? should i remove the gnome or there's some other options i can do to prevent this?
I wonder if you're using nautilus as a file manager in XFCE? If so, use "nautilus --help" and there you'll see that nautilus has a 'nodesktop' (or similarly worded option).
Believe it or not, nautilus *is* the gnome desktop. Just launching nautilus will make gnome take over.

ok so i've run "nautilus --no-desktop" command.. and its still changes to gnome.. why is that?
Better to find out why it starts and disable it there otherwise you will have to kill it every time. Is there anything suspect in Settings->"Session and Startup"->"Application Autostart"?

the only autostart are the compiz fusion-icon,hp system tray service and the xfce power management. these are the only items with check on them.

Hmm ... ? Let's see what's starting nautilus. What's the output of ps -f -H -U<your logon name>, preferably when no desktop applications are running (to keep the output short)?
OK, so nautilus is being started by process 15154 which is /usr/bin/xfce4-session. That suggests your Xfce session is somehow configured to run nautilus ...
Have you already reviewed Settings->"Session and Startup"->"Advanced" to ensure that "Launch Gnome services at startup" is not selected?
