Sometimes the changelog just doesn't tell me enough...

Hi all,

The latest stable change log has, among others, the following entries:

Quote:
patches/packages/x11-6.9.0-i486-13_slack11.0.tgz:
Recompiled.
patches/packages/x11-devel-6.9.0-i486-13_slack11.0.tgz:
Recompiled.
patches/packages/x11-xdmx-6.9.0-i486-13_slack11.0.tgz:
Recompiled.
patches/packages/x11-xnest-6.9.0-i486-13_slack11.0.tgz:
Recompiled.
patches/packages/x11-xvfb-6.9.0-i486-13_slack11.0.tgz:
Recompiled.
The other entries explain that there's a security fix with the software that's patched, but I don't see any explanation for recompiling these parts of X11.

Does anyone know? How could I find out?

I only ask because the last update I did to X11 in the stable branch caused a problem with Kaffeine and I needed to reinstall it.

Regards,

-Drew

That means they have been recompiled to link to the updated/patched version of whatever the security issue was targeting. In this case, they are recompiled against the new fontconfig and freetype packages.

Ah ha! That makes perfect sense. Thank you.
