Some questions - root user, xorg

Hi there

I read somewhere that logging by root each time is not safe.Should I create another user??

In Xfree86 there is a configuration tool named xf86config,right?
What is the equivalent in xorg??

thank you so much

1.

Yes, you should do an other user for yourself. Even to protect your machine from yourself and programs you run. While running things as root, you are keeping a loaded gun or pack of dynamite in your hand; you don't want to do it all the time.

hey....we learns from our mistakes, if you experimenting....use root account and you did something bad, there is always the iso to reinstall. Afterthat you will always remember not to do the same mistake again and to think b4 you do something. But if it is your production system, please don't use the root account unless it is necessary.

To configure X, use :

Code:
/usr/X11R6/bin/xorgconfig
