Some QT apps not listing all folders

Recently I'm not seeing all folders.
It looks like the problem is only with QT applications.
Google Earth is one, it will not let me access a folder I created recently.
And now I see the same problem with another QT app called tsMuxeR GUI.
This is driving me crazy and I can't get anything done.

Not sure what fixed it.
I've changed QT theme to gtk and installed a batch of updates from late March upto today.
And it's working again and I can see folders I could not before from the open dialog box.
For example when trying to open a gpx track file in Google Earth.
I'll mark it as solved but not sure where exactly the fix came from.

There has been a discussion about Google Earth recently on the SlackBuilds.org mailing list. I vaguely remember there's been a permission bug leading to the problem you describe. So the culprit is Google Earth. Should be fixed soon.
