sndconfig
does slackware support sndconfig?
i attempted to run it, but nothing happened. i want to configure my sound card, but with no luck. if it does not have the sndconfig, is there a module i can install to get sndconfig to work? [edit1] i just saw this post, and will try it tonight. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ight=sndconfig I'm not at my machine, so does slackware come with kmix or alsamix inbedded in it? [/edit1] |
Hi .
The most Easyest thing to get your soundcard runing in slackware is to tape. alsaconf alsaconf detects your soundcard. Then tape . alsamixer In alsamixer unmute the sound (you do that with m) (page down /page up vol-/vol+). Then tape. alsactrl store To store your values in alsamixer . Ifn't that work go to http://www.alsa-project.org download driver lib and utilities . Then click on soundcards. Look for your soundcard follow the instrutions. I'm not thing sndconfig is supportet in slackware at leaste it's not standard. / Teo |
the muting (mentioned in that post) is quite misleading. there's a slash across the speaker whether is muted or not configured. when ur mouse hovers over it, it'll give a message saying if it's configured or not.
if this is ur first run i.e. haven't tried any kernel stuff, then it should already be configured (and working). which sound card do u have? |

i attempted to run the alsa...
but it didn't work. i didn't have the details to use alsactrl store I'm using a ensoniqe sound blaster or something like that. it said it configured it successfully, but every time i went into the alsa mixer my settings were returned to the defaults. hopefully the alsactrl store works. i'm using slackware 9.1 thanks for the responses. i will post my results later tonight when i'm back on my machine. |

I will try the alsactl store when I get home later tonight. Let me make sure I have the steps correct. I enter the alsamixer. I set the channels. I then exit by using escape. Then I run alsactl store. Am I missing anything? |
