Make a new Slackware disk. Thats what I do. I've actually hacked the installer to the point where I don't have to lift a finger after it's done installing. I made a Slack 10.1 dvd that installs Gnome 2.8.3, automatically sets up my network and too many other minor tweaks to even list... I've got my own tweaked out kernel with SMP/SATA/XFS as a choice for the kernels to use along with loads of other stuff.... Linux is nice like that. If you don't like something, it's easy to change. Install disks are no different than a running system.
