lsmod

/sbin/ifconfig

route -v

Let me know what you get.....

So which one are you trying to connect with, the modem?

ppp0 : inet addr:81.131.51.226

or ethernet card?

eth0: OEM i82557/i82558 10/100 Ethernet, 000:59:0C:93:A1, IRQ 11

Your modem is up and running no problem:

ppp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
inet addr:81.131.51.226 P-t-P:212.140.212.71 Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1

How did it get that IP address? DHCP? Are you on dialup?
