Slow ATAPI reads with 2.6.13

After upgrading to SW 10.2 with the 2.6.13 kernel from /testing, audio CD reads are really slow - about 1.8X on a 48X drive.

I've read that the driver basically sucks and DMA is not enabled for audio CD packet reads.

Anybody have a suggestion? Does recompiling the kernel without built-in ATAPI support and then enabling ide-scsi speed it back up?

You can hdparm -d1 -A1 /dev/"cdrom" to enable DMA and readahead.
