Slackware_Links Wiki << Slackware LQ Suggestions!

Hi,

I edit and moved the links to the LQ_Wiki.

Slackware LQ Suggestions! is now at Slackware-Links

Jeremy suggested that I use the wiki, so I thought I would give it a try.

LQ articles and tutorials us the same vbcode format as posts do. You have a great thread going, BTW - thanks! As you seems to be iteratively building the content, the LQ Wiki may be a great place to move the project. It would allow other to help, keep a history for you, allow better formatting, etc. If you have any questions, let me know.

Have fun! Get involved with the Wiki.

Wow, didn't know that much information was already available on Slackware. At least in the sense of not having to search for it and piece it together. This is good stuff. Thank you.

I noticed, as well as a couple line breaks, in the Window Managers section I see you have XFCE listed as well as xfwm (I fixed the faq link.. it was missing a '[' and the plain text of "Download" kind of looked awkward on the same line.) Shouldn't XFCE be listed under Desktop Environments?

Only now your job is done. Excellent job! That will help all Slackware / Linux users.

May I suggest you to open the discussion page on wiki/Slackware-Links?

Hi,

Yes, some consider xfce a light desktop environment. Probably has been that way since the original post. Some tend to consider xfce a window manager since it is so light. But in essence it is an environment. The xfce & xfwm a unique. The xcfe is for 4.2.4 and xfwm for 4.4.1 . Just a slip on my part. XFWM is a window manager for XFCE.

I did some edit/search/replaced on a off line copy of the original post to move to the wiki late last evening and really did not make a thorough check of the wiki. Today I've noticed a few things that needed addressed.

Jeremy suggested the use of the wiki. I thought it would be a lot to move over. Not bad at all. I really like the idea of sharing the work on the post. More involvement by the community.

I'll make few changes myself tonight.

Hi,

Point taken. I hope the discussion will be fruitful.

Edit: I don't know if my job is done yet.

Hi,

Thanks!

I really thought the wiki would be difficult to move the post too. A little effort in the edit but it seems to be worth it.

I like the idea of sharing the load with the community. That way we should see some growth in the interest and use of the links list.

The one thing I wish is that to make the moves or anything intra-related that the LQ Wiki standardize with the LQ post, articles and tutorials. Especially the http:/www. links. That way no problem would exist between the forums, wiki and articles.
