Slackware64 Scans disk and reboots before prompt

I have Slackware64 running on my laptop. I've been running for about 3 weeks with no real issues out side of my own set up issues. Today, I booted my system and it gets down to where is scans sd3 then I get an error in a small box. It tells me to hit ctrl-D and run fsdisk manually. But after hitting Ctrl-D or actually any keys, it reboots. So I can't get to a prompt to do any dianoses or repairs.

Has anyone else ever have this issue? and is there a solution?

Thanks
Ace

What file system is on sd3 (sda3)? I think you should boot with a live cd and do a filesystem check on that partition, it sounds like you have an error.

I am using ext4. Do I have to find a live cd that has ext4 or would a ext2-3 version of Knoppix work?

I don't have any experience with ext4 I use JFS, you could try the Knoppix CD, but I would guess you would need an ext4 CD.

Hi,

You should be able to use the Slackware install media cd/dvd to boot then perform maintenance on the problem filsystem.

Or get a LiveCD with the tools;

'SystemRescueCD', 'UBCD' and 'RIP' LiveCD to name a few.

The above links and others can be found at 'Slackware-Links'. More than just SlackwareŽ links!
