Slackware64 multilib and ettercap

Hi,
I have a Slackware64 multilib:

Code:

ls /var/log/packages/ | grep glibc
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 540261 Dec 12 11:43 glibc-2.11.1_multilib-x86_64-5alien_slack13.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 444477 Dec 12 11:44 glibc-i18n-2.11.1_multilib-x86_64-5alien_slack13.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  1331 Dec 12 11:44 glibc-profile-2.11.1_multilib-x86_64-5alien_slack13.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  15362 Dec 12 11:44 glibc-solibs-2.11.1_multilib-x86_64-5alien_slack13.1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  68822 Dec 12 11:44 glibc-zoneinfo-2.11.1_multilib-noarch-5alien_slack13.1

Code:

ls /var/log/packages/ | grep gcc
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  10591 Dec 12 11:42 gcc-4.4.4_multilib-x86_64-1alien
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  39469 Dec 12 11:42 gcc-g++-4.4.4_multilib-x86_64-1alien
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  2334 Dec 12 11:42 gcc-gfortran-4.4.4_multilib-x86_64-1alien
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 219273 Dec 12 11:42 gcc-gnat-4.4.4_multilib-x86_64-1alien
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 236224 Dec 12 11:43 gcc-java-4.4.4_multilib-x86_64-1alien
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root  2458 Dec 12 11:43 gcc-objc-4.4.4_multilib-x86_64-1alien

I have installed Ettercap and Libnet from Slackbuilds.org but starting the program as root I get:
Code:

ettercap -G
ettercap NG-0.7.3 copyright 2001-2004 ALoR & NaGA

Dissector "dns" not supported (etter.conf line 70)
Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key
GTK+ failed to initialize. Is X running?

As user works.

for the dns error, you can try this patch (topic on it is here).

if you want to launch the app as root in a X session started as user you need to give him access to your display, so issue (as user, in your X session)
Code:

xhost +localhost
check your root DISPLAY variable
Code:

set | grep DISPLAY
