Slackware Xwin and Network

Hello

I've got 2 questions:

1.) I'm running Slackware with a 2.4 kernel and my network isn't working, how can I configure it? I've got a realtek 10Mb NIC, I've checked on the net and slackware supports this card under ne2k drivers... I can't seem to get eth0/1/2/3/4 to work?

2.) My Xwindows hangs on startup and I think it might be because of my screen resolution, Can anyone help me with the command to run the xwindows configuration or tell me where I can find the X86Config file...

Thanks a Mil!

You can find the X86Config file in /etc/X11.

Do an lsmod and see if the ne2k module is loaded. If not edit your /etc/rc.d/rc.modules and scroll down until you find the line that says /sbin/modprobe ne2k and uncomment it. If you want to check it out with out rebooting run that command /sbin/modprobe ne2k. Then do an ifconfig eth0. If you want to set it ip adress type ifconfig eht0 <ip adress>. To keep those settings at boot time edit your /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1. In there there is a place to enter the settings for eth0. Let me know if you need an example. When I get home I can pst one for you.

Also, I find Realtek NICs a pain.
