Hi,

You should have a '/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf' file unless deleted.

You can extract the original from the package 'n/network-scripts-13.0-noarch-3.txz'.
Code:
./
var/
var/log/
var/log/setup/
var/log/setup/setup.netconfig
usr/
usr/man/
usr/man/man5/
usr/man/man5/rc.inet1.conf.5.gz
usr/man/man8/
usr/man/man8/rc.inet1.8.gz
etc/
etc/networks.new
etc/HOSTNAME.new
etc/nntpserver.new
etc/rc.d/
etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.new
etc/rc.d/rc.ip_forward.new
etc/rc.d/rc.inet2.new
etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf.new <<<<< this is what you want
etc/hosts.allow.new
etc/hosts.deny.new
etc/host.conf.new
etc/hosts.equiv.new
etc/protocols.new
etc/resolv.conf.new
etc/hosts.new
sbin/
sbin/netconfig
install/
install/doinst.sh
install/slack-desc
You will find the package in '/slackware' or 'slackware64' depending on the arch install media.

The file is '/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf'. You can edit with 'vi' or 'nano' as root to make the changes. Once you have made changes to the '/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf' then do from the cli as root: /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 restart.

You should look at the links that I referenced to allow you to do this without someone holding your hand. Detailed and helpful references!

Do you have the network-scripts package installed?

ls /var/log/packages/network-scripts*

*Edit. I see I was beaten to it

ok i dont know what cli is? and i dont know how to use a text editor. on the tutorial its confusing and i dont know where or what im supposed to change on the file. and the 'n/network-scripts-13.0-noarch-3.txz'. i cant find it either or download like i was explaining to dive i dont know how to select a mirror? oh and i did look at those links it says nothing about eth1? on how to set it up only eth0. and i can only access the inet1 file by dolphin cant by the terminal this is what im putting in

root@darkstar:/# /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf and what im getting in error
bash: /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf: permission denied
this i do believe is in root cause i changed it to cd / as the command for it doesnt make any sense.

1st of a all a warm thank you to all you guy out there who have been help me and my friends over the time with a lot of resourceful information and solutions.

I have been following Mr.dh2k's post for a while in this thread as i got a hope to resolve my wifi problem through this post of dh2k

It seems that i have the same problem with h/w like the guy in this post is facing.ie my wifi is not working.

I will list out the specific details :
1. OS - Linux , kernel-2.6.32-71.el6.i686

2.LSPCI O/P :
05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 05)
09:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01)
0b:00.0 USB Controller: Texas Instruments Device 8241 (rev 02)
[amit@amitlinux Desktop]$
3.I tried to install the broadcom-sta.SlackBuild and it got aborted with below o/p

[root@amitlinux broadcom-sta]# ll
total 1172
-rw-r--r--. 1 1016 users 482 Mar 10 2011 broadcom-sta.info
-rwxr-xr-x. 1 1016 users 1699 Mar 15 2011 broadcom-sta.SlackBuild
-rw-r--r--. 1 1016 users 136 Mar 10 2011 doinst.sh
-rw-rw-r--. 1 amit amit 1175410 Jun 27 05:29 hybrid-portsrc_x86_64-v5_100_82_112.tar.gz
-rw-r--r--. 1 1016 users 328 Mar 10 2011 README
-rw-r--r--. 1 1016 users 827 Jan 12 2011 slack-desc
-rw-r--r--. 1 1016 users 422 Mar 15 2011 wl_linux.c-semaphore.patch
[root@amitlinux broadcom-sta]# ./broadcom-sta.SlackBuild
tar: /home/amit/Downloads/broadcom-sta/hybrid-portsrc_x86_32-v5_100_82_38.tar.gz: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
[root@amitlinux broadcom-sta]#
--------------------
Does the source slackwarefile broadcom-sta.tar.gz has any different version for 64 bit machine?because when i try to execute broadcom-sta.SlackBuild it is searching for hybrid-portsrc_x86_32-v5_100_82_38.tar.gz ie for 32 bit .

Then i tried to execute the slackbuild after downloading hybrid-portsrc_x86_32-v5_100_82_38.tar.gz,it worked but got stucked up with a prompt of "patching"

I will be very pleased & grateful if you can help me with it

Thanks & regards
Mr.Dumbo
