Slackware turns 10 years old today!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Slackware 1.0.0 was released 10 years ago today, on July 17th, 1993!
This has been announced on http://www.distrowatch.com/ and also on http://www.slashdot.org If you are posting in this forum, maybe you can take the time to send a quick "thank you" email to Patrick Volkerding, for all his hard work during the past 10 years... Or, even better, you could go to the the Slackware shop and buy something there to support the progress of Slackware!! In any case, thanks, Patrick, for a great, great, great distro! :D |
Yes, I wish to celebrate the Birthday of, IMO the Best distro ever, Slackware-Linux with you, Noryungi, and P.V. & the Slack-team.
In honor of the anniversary, a donation & order was sent to Slackware.com. Peace and Happy-Slackin' BC |
Quality never goes out of style, so to speak. :) Happy birthday Slackware! Live long and prosper. :D

I've only been on it a week and it seems like an old friend already:)

mr volkerding, my thanks and my congratulations for a job very well done. SLACK RULES!! |
Yeah, happy birthday Slackware...and also on distrowatch.com, they mention that you can download the very first version, 1.0 for a 386! Now aint that something? :D
|
Happy tenth, Slackware! Just think, eight more years and Slack'll be old enough to vote! ;)
And I agree with LinFreak; the OS grows on you real fast. I love this distro. When you're done configuring or installing something in Slackware, you really feel you've accomplished something. |
Happy birthday slackware. I've only been using you a week, but I love you already :).
|
Long live Slackware!
HooYaa! :) |
Thanks to Patrick Volkerding and his team. Sorry I can't contribute yet as I do not have any income (student).
Been using it for 4 years and still growing strong. Thanks and Happy Birthday Slackware!! |
Patrick - you compiled a great distro and even though, as a newbie, I have yet to realise its full potential, I gotta tell you - it knocks the stuffing out of those other distros, and considering they all run off the Linux kernel, that's saying something.
Many thanks Patrick and team: happy birthday Slackware, and may all of its maintainers and users "get slack" (in the Dobbsian sense!! :)) - Andy |
Happy Birthday Slack.
Thanks Patrick. The best human for God is somebody that brings happiness to the universe. |
Happy Birthday Slackware! :)
I have been with Slackware for two months and I love it! It's the best distro ever. |
