Hello,
I downloaded a few themes from kde-look.org, but now I have no idea how to load them under styles. How can one load a downloaded theme under styles?
there is a folder somewhere where I need to extract it to, but where?
the files for my current theme seem to be littered all over my FS
All places provive different answers and I can't understand anything in this maze of icons, themes and window decorations so I'll try forming a very literal question: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php...content=105796
downloaded a .tar.gz. i want my windows and taskbar to look exactly like on the screenshot. what do I do?
You can just use KDE's own built in theme installer under System Settings>Workspace Appearance>Desktop Theme. then select "Get New Themes" from there you can install themes automatically. You can still install themes manually if you need to, just unzip the .tar.gz theme file then move the uncompressed directory of the theme (in this case it would be oxyzone) to your /home/user/.kde/share/apps/desktoptheme directory.

I can't find 'workspace appearance'. I can apply something under system settings->appearance->style, but that has no effect on windows or background, just the taskbar.
And under appearance->windows I can't find the theme. All other themes that I can see there are in /usr/share/themes and & each contains only one folder named xfwm4, which the downloaded ones do not have. how can I fix that?
You might try right clicking on your desktop and a menu should pop up.
thanks for suggestion, but I really only added the "wallpaper" part because I thought each theme ships with one. but it is still unclear how to make windows resemble the theme. right now my taskbar uses the downloaded theme but windows still use the default one. if I go to system settings->appearance->windows and under Aurorae Decoration Theme Engine pick the downloaded .tar.gz then the sample windows do not appear and applying the theme has no effect, although it worked just fine for the taskbar.
if I use the download theme button there and download one then I can apply it, but it affects only the outlines of the windows and not the windows themselves.
I forgot I'm running current with KDE 4.5.2 thats why its different. I can't remember off the top of my head where its located on 13.1 but If I remember if has to be there under style or desktop. I'm going to throw 13.1 into a virtual machine and take a look.
