Slackware servers
I've been trying to download the ISOs for the 2-4 cds for S9.0. I've been forced to use WinXP after an unfortunate accident. I thought I'd use this as an excuse to go from RH to Slackware... maybe I'm doing something wrong but why can't you download actual ISO files from the servers on their site? all I see are the install-iso and a "current" directory with all the source, etc. I also tried to just download the folder and make me own cds from it, but i'm getting a weird recursive error in my ftp downloading. I end up with directories like /slack/rootdisk/rootdisk/rootdisk/rootdisk/rootdisk etc etc. I'm stuck using windows clients and I've used, CuteFTP, FTP Voyager, FTP commander, the IE ftp shell.. it's crap. Can anyone help me out or give me a link to actual ISO files? Or how to download it correctly with windows?
Anyways sorry if its a bit off topic, but i figured you guys would probably know. Thanks again. Post_#001_status:complete |
in order to get all of the cds, you have to purchase slackware 9.0. Slackware gives you the install iso for free which is probably all you need. As for links to it, www.slackware.com/getslack should help you

Alright.. why I was wondering about the other cds is because I'm pretty sure I'll be recompiling the kernel to start off with. Just wanted to get everything I needed before I installed anything. What do they store in the directory "slackware9-current"? Or, I should say, what's the directory structure? In the file "filelist.txt" in the root directory it looks like an explanation but the program i'm using (notepad) is reading it incorrectly... (looks all squished with no line breaks?).
Sorry if anything is redundant or misinterpreted.. Windows frustrates the hell out of me.... |
did it the long way...
nevermind... I did it the long way. just in time too win32 was crashing on me already... talk about bad memory management I can't even copy files from one partition to another and check my e-mail... :D
Thanks for the help though - |
