Slackware Post-Installation Issues

I have always admired slackware and always found ways to use it. I recently upgraded my PC and tried to use Slackware once more. The installation goes fine and so does first boot. After shutting down my PC for the day when I resume it the next day, I get kernel panic message. This has happened 3,4 times in the past month. Any help would be appreciated
