slackware pc not detected in windows explorer

Code:

[global]
workgroup=workgroup
netbios name=slackbox
security=user
hosts allow=192.168.0.102, 192.168.0.100, 127.
load printers=no

printing=bsd
printcap name=/dev/null
show add printer wizard=no
disable spoolss=yes

max log size = 50
dns proxy = no

[misc]
path=/home/misc
comment=a
guest ok=no
browseable=yes
writeable=yes
valid users=myname

[docs]
path=/home/alt
comment=a
public=no
guest ok=no
browseable=yes
writeable=yes
valid users=myname

So, I can access my files by mapping a network drive, but I cannot access it by clicking the network icon in windows explorer(on the desktop). I only see my windows box in there.

The odd thing is that it was working fine when I had Windows 8 installed, but now that I reverted back to Windows 7 it no longer detects it.

This wouldn't really be a problem but some applications require this detection.

windows will never be able to read ext3 or 4 or btfs or any NON Microsoft owned and patented format

if the drives are formatted to Microsoft's NTFS format then windows will be able to read them
but no linux install will work on a ntfs formatted partition / drive

you need to use samba
the MICROSOFT ONLY!!!! "simple share" only works between Microsoft computers
