Slackware onto vmware

Hello.
I'm trying to install slackware onto a virtual machine (vmware).
Host: Windows XP
Guest: Slackware
Slackware does boot, I've compiled a 2.6.13 kernel using the base config
(for instance, usbhci is bultin)
and it's ok.
Unfortunately, the mouse does not work.
xorg.conf looks fine, but my usb mouse is useless nonetheless.
I *think* the problem could rather be vmware-related.

What do you think?

Thanks

p.s.: Alt+Tab does not work either; that's puzzling... KDE claims it should.

Google for this. I would say it's a vmware problem.

Well, you never know. Pat's default config always gives me a non-working mouse. I ussually just build psmouse into the kernel instead of a module and it works. I forget whether the module wasn't loading or what. I've just gotten into the habbit of building it into the kernel...

It's not over yet.
Thank you both, anyway.
psmouse is built in the kernel indeed; no need to load it. This can't be the problem.
Nice try, though

I'd google some more.

bye

I've got Slackware both as a host and as a guest OS. I copied the xorg.conf file from the host OS to the guest OS, installed VMWare tools, and it worked right away.

Good point... Vmware Tools does inhance the mouse along with graphics. In your case, it may make the mouse work. Don't know if you installed it or not but you should if you haven't. Good luck.

Thanks for your reply.

Without VMWare Tools:
Alt+Tab does not work
Mouse does not work
Graphics is OK

With VMWare Tools:
Alt+Tab does not work
Mouse does not work
Graphics is fucked up (like it can't recognize the video card or something)

Thanks.
Would you mind letting me take look at the mouse section of your xorg.conf, please?

Nevermind.
Kernel issue.
I've configured and compiled it once again; know everything's fine.
Don't know what was wrong, previously.
I still haven't installed the VMWare Tools, but it looks like there's no need.

Thank you all for your time

bye
