Slackware on 64bit system
 

Hi, I was just wondering... Do I need to do something special when installing Slackware (10.1) on a 64bit system? or would it just install like a native 32bit system?
Does this make any difference or not?

G'day there, I use slackware10 on my GA-K8VT890-9 VIA K8T890 chipset AMD64 3200 which is reasonably new and slack seems to run beuatifully on it , And I'm still a novice at linux , I could be wrong but I dont think its wise to mix 64bit software that is offered with using swaret though even though I was tempted to try . But I have tried lots of different distros and I find Slackware is definetly the best .AnyWay give it a go.

I didn't tried but there is also an unofficial Slackware on AMD64 project.

I will install Slackware 10.1, but later I'll check out Slamd64!

Slamd64 works pretty well. RC1 is a little rough, and I think Fred will get RC2 uploaded this weekend. There are a lot of improvements in RC2, or so I'm told. My laptop has an Athlon64 3000+ and running 64 bit applications it is more than twice as fast as my desktop with Slack10.1 and an AthlonXP 2000+.

I have definitely noticed a significant performance boost by running 64 bit applications on a 64 bit kernel.

That's the why I'm waiting with Slamd64 :)
