I wish they would put the old logo on a large mug. I llooooovvvvve coffee.
When I saw the new logo I could not at first make heads or tails of what it said. It looks like "slackwars"
If I was to promote slackware and slap one of those stickers on my bumper, people would be scratching their heads wondering what it meant. The logo is supposed to represent the product. Most people know that the butterfly is M$. Or the swish is Nike. To say "Slackware Linux www.slackware.com" on a bumper sticker would be a better advertisement.
On the other hand, I think a good revamping of the looks of the site would draw more interest of new people. I think it looks a little bland. I did not have a good first impression.

You could place logo on wheels' cover, if it's "flippy".

I agree with Erv. Everything that can be said has been said. I'll be ignoring the newest attempt at a 'logo poll' thread.
This horse is dead. Time to stop beating on it.

Agreed... who cares at this point. Poll or no poll it is clear that people are not happy with the logo... it is unfortunate.

Bill loved it
It is not so bad... Bill loves the new logo-thing, and in fact he will pay the guys who did it to create a new 100% transparent-inverted Tux, so all the open source people can enjoy such kind of art... and btw it is not maybe the end... maybe someday another person (unfortunately) is taking care of the distro, and the first thing he will do will be get the old logo back... lets wait and see...

A police spokesman said:
"That was a really nasty crash, but at least we can tell what linux distro the dead guy was using."

Yeah, it's better than the old Slackware. Now that the logo is in Elvish, it's a very popular distro in Middle Earth.

Smoked
I havent been on hear for so long i had to make a new user. But everyone on this thread is smoked. And i mean smoked. I dont think ive ever had an install of slack that had the oem logo on if for more that a couple reboots.
It is one of things that makes linux so grate. You dont get stuck with some bunk branding everyware you click. But i guess it may be old school but my skin package is one of the first pkgs installed on a new system.
I cant even belive that a bunch of slackware users would even be bloging about Logos.
Lame.

Almost as lame as creating a new user just to post on a 6 month dead thread to say how lame you think we all are for discussing it.
FYI, this was never about any Logo in Slackware itself. The only place you see a logo in slackware is on the lilo prompt and that's only if you choose to have it enabled (I prefer the old style text based lilo, so I don't even see it).
If you'd bothered to read the thread properly you'd have understood that the logo in question was a change to the slackware website and merchandise branding. Some of us believed strongly that Pat was making a huge mistake and cared enough to let him know. Yes, some people got a little carried away, others didn't express themselves all that well, and some just didn't agree, but that's pretty normal for a web forum thread. In amongst all that, there were also some really interesting posts from people who understand issues surrounding graphic design and branding at a professional level and their insight was quite educational.
As for your 'old school skin package', I don't see what's particularly "old school" about it. Do you keep it on punch card or something?
