I don't read contempt for anyone in my response. It is not there, and it was not meant to be there. The choice of logo is something I have no say in. What I tried to point out is that apparently some people think that "Slackware Logo" == "Slackware". It is not, of course. Slackware did not change one bit.
As for my own opinion - I like the old logo, it is familiar, true enough. I also like the new logo, it is provocative and 'different'. It also draws people's attention to Slackware, which is not a bad thing. Again, I did not want to express arrogance towards people who feel different about this new logo - but please keep a perspective. Eric |
It's called 'Flippy'...

It will grow on me. Like most things, you get used to it after a while.
Changing logos i can live with; its Slackware itself that's important to me. New logo or not, it's still the best distro out there. Jamie |
Is this serious?
Ok, marketing people, as it is proved now, are able to do the worst and most stupid decisions ....
That thing only can be called a logo by tax reasons. I have no idea what those guys from that Senile Felines Designs really do, but they must have a legal existence, paying taxes like design people, like people who creates logos. Well, and Patrick, and I not happy saying this, is probably in serious need of visiting a neurologist. It is not because that thing is a bad logo, it is because that doesn't even is a logo. |

I don't see it as a def logo but there are some ideas in this new logo
It is graphically developable in my opinion, I mean it is not fixed Its curves can be worked, colored, stretched etc.. Look like surfing accessories brand names design in some way, very west coast For my part, I find the blue S slackware logo very cute :) |
yeah i agree. Love the blue logo. simple and clean.

omg...that is horrible. I really wish I didn't read this thread... lol I don't mind saying what i think... i think it sucks a$$
|
I dislike it purely because it's hard to read. OK, it reads the same upside down. So does the old logo. Kudos to Pat for trying something new, my opinion of the new logo is that it is horrible. The OS is still awesome though :)

not the prettiest of logos at all. however it is unique.
And i hope he didn't pay for it. I don't know if anybody else has noticed but some of it has been blended and other bits have not, all in it just looks like its been thrown together very quickly. :) |
I have to call it ugly, but clever. I wonder how many casual observers will know what it says!

Hi,
I agree the unique value of the new logo tends to follow the trend of Slackware. Slackware is unique! Sometimes change can cause problems for some people. No way has Slackware changed, just the website with a small addition. I like the 'flippy' logo. Patience! It will grow on you. A short time ago everyone or let's say a lot of people wanted the website to be updated. I think that PV's commission for 'Mark from Senile Felines Designs' meets some of the criteria. The Slackware website still remains the same except for the logo in the upper right side. So what's wrong with bringing the website to the 21st? Not a major change, the colors are subtle yet to me appealing. I wonder what some of the newbies have too say about the Logo? |
Hmm.. my 2 cents -- logo is very ugly :(

Hmm.. logo is very ugly and not readable.
