Slackware network install

I am trying to do a Slackware-current network install. My DSL modems IP is 192.168.254.254. There are a few other numbers I am supposed to enter, but I don't know what to use. I tried guessing, but I just got the error that it was unable to connect to the network.

It is asking for my IP, my netmask, my gateway, and the server IP.(which I already have.) I'm just not sure what numbers to enter where.

IP: 192.168.254.254
netmask: 192.168.254.255
Gateway: *Adddress of the router youre connected to that is connected to the internet.*
Server IP: Should be the IP of the server you want to get the data from.

Note: you should be able to tell it to obtain all that via DHCP. if you have that option that should work.

I used my windows system to find the numbers, (I am running a dual boot). It works ok, but now I get this error.

Configuring ethernet card...
Configuring your gateway...
Running /sbin/rpc.portmap...
Mounting NFS...
Mount: RPC: Port mapper failure - RPC: Timed out.

Thanks, Noah

Do I need to use an nfs sever, or can I use an ftp server?

I got around the problem. I just used an ftp client to download the /slackware directory to my hard drive, and installed from that.
