Open up a terminal in any window manager, su, and run "gdmconfig" That will open up a gui config tool for gdm. It's pretty straightforward. And you can make gdm configuration accessible from the gdm itself via some checkboxes, so it saves you a login if/when you want to reconfigure it. I can't remember off the top of my head if you can change the session selection menu, but pretty much everything is configurable with the "gdmconfig" interface. The various session types might be in the .conf file for gdm. Anyway, I think "gdmconfig" is what you need. Hope that helps.
okay nevermind, i figured out how to add and remove them, but now how do i change the order (not only am i super picky about stupid stuff like this, but i'm trying to figure out how all this crap works)?

hmm, i had to install a few more libraries to use gdmconfig (i uninstalled gnome) but it still wants me to specify KDE and there's no option to change it in there. i dont understand why it has to choose 'last' and not 'default' as i have set that to KDE. oh well
