Welcome to slackware, don't get discouraged by it, unlike ubuntu or other distros, slackware dosen't hide things from you.

Do you intend to dualboot with ubuntu or use it alone? The latter would reouire more work.

There is a link here to a very nice noob friendly tutorial to install slackware with pictures for every step. Look around here it's on someone's signature.

Before Installing I would recommend downloading virtualbox vrom ubuntu app store and try a slackware install.

Just burning a dvd with slackware is alot easier than installing from usb. I's doable with usb of course but a dvd easy and straightforword.

Hi,

Welcome to LQ!

Even easier is to mount the ISO image to the loop device. Of course you will still need a boot image;
Quote:
mini ISO image <- 'CDROM to boot, and install packages from an NFS server or local hard disk'
If your machine can boot from USB then look at README_USB.TXT to see how to use usbboot.img.

Amen. Praise Bob.
As other people have previously mentioned the thing you need to do to have a successful first install is to read and understand the available documentation.
