Slackware hangs at ldconfig

Hey,
I installed Slackware 11 on a friends comp. After it booted up I installed the generic 2.6.18 kernel package that was there in /testing of DVD.

Now when I restart the comp, Slackware hangs at ldconfig. It only works if I boot to the SLackware DVD and do
Quote:
huge26.s root=/dev/hda6 noinitrd ro
What is the reason for this problem?
How do I install the huge26.s kernel? I mean I know how to compile and install kernels, only want to know where I can get config file for huge26.s?

P.S I had to install 2.6.18 packages as the keyboard wouldn't work without it.

Well the config for huge26.s is in the '/kernels/huge26.s' directory on the DVD or here.

The huge26.s kernel has a lot more stuff compiled into it ... maybe that's why it works and the other one doesn't ? Did you install the modules for the 2.6.18 kernel ? (not sure if that would help)

yeah I did install all the modules ... I just went to the /testing/linux-2.6.18 directory on the DVD and did pkgtool.

the /testing directory is for test26.s, and the /extras directory is for huge26.s. Make sure you got the right stuff.
