Slackware freezes on Starting HAL Daemon

Hi. I've apparently messed up something I guess with the rc.M file. When I boot the system it goes to

Code:

 Starting HAL Daemon: /usr/sbin/hald --daemon=yes

and it freezes. Any idea what i've messed up and how to fix it? Thanks in advance!

If you think you've probably broken it by messing with rc.M why don't you tell us what you've been doing to rc.M that might have broken it.

Simply telling us that it "just hangs" after you "did something" isn't of much use.

All I did was commenting some lines for stuff that I don't need. I don't remember messing with the HAL daemon ...

Is there any way to access rc.M pre-boot ?

Use the Slackware install disk to get access to it like in this example:
