I think the install is easy too, but people panic when they get booted to a CLI, so most people should just read a bit before and they'll be better off.

Speaking as a relatively recent convert to slackware myself..

One thing you've already found is that if you ask intelligent questions you get lots of intelligent answers.

Because of the nature of slackware, these guys generally know what they are doing, and they are willing to pass on that knowledge.
