Slackware -current vs Brother HL2270DW wifi printer

I am attempting to print to a Brother HL2270DW laser printer that is running in wifi mode with an address 192.168.0.11. I have set the driver with modifications suggested on this page:

Brother HL-2270DW on Slackware
http://littlesvr.ca/linux-stuff/arti...270dw-cups.php

although I noted that I still had to manually point cups to the required .ppd file. The problem is that there is an error message and no print despite cups having 'discovered' the network printer with no intervention from me:

Code:
Discovered Network Printers: Brother HL-2270DW series (Brother HL-2270DW series)
The error message is:
Code:
Processing - "Unable to locate printer "BRW008092AE60AB"."
I would dearly like to get this printer running over a network and I would welcome any suggestions or troubleshooting tips...

Are you running the 64-bit version of -current?
If so, have you added the multilib versions of glibc-solibs and cups? These are available from http://bear.alienbase.nl/mirrors/peo...tilib/current/ and http://bear.alienbase.nl/mirrors/peo...2/ap-compat32/ respectively.
Have you seen this information? http://docs.slackware.com/howtos:har...r_installation

Should have mentioned that: yes I am running 64bit but it is a fully kitted multilib setup so these files have been installed.

which I have made manually. Thanks for pointing me to this link.

However the answer came to me through the message: "Unable to locate printer "BRW008092AE60AB"." On googling around this I saw that Brother printers often need a direct address rather than the naming convention used here. So I assigned the printer a static address, stopped cups and altered the DeviceURI section of /etc/cups/printers.conf to read the following:

Code:
DeviceURI socket://192.168.0.11
then restarted cups and the printer roared to life. I know there are more elegant ways to alter this config file and I am ready to be corrected on this, lpadmin was a little fiddly and seemed to be accomplishing the same goal..

I experimented a little with ldp and socket but the docs recommend socket if supported so I went with that. And as always with Slackware I have learnt a little more

Still using this printer successfully with a 64bit multilib setup, has anyone managed to get one running with a 'pure' 64bit setup? I am keen to lose multilib but this printer is holding me back...
