Slackware Current versus Slackware 10.2

Ok newbie question.
First, I would like to say "WOW" and "THANKS" to all that put this wonderful information out there to all of us that don't have the knowledge but the desire to learn.
Now, to my question or confirmation of what I think is correct. I'm trying to understand what is the difference between the current changelog & 10.2 changelog of Slackware.
Basic Idea, is this correct??? Current changelog is the development tree of Slackware that is a "TESTING" ground for the next distribution of Slackware. It includes everything that Pat wants to test or try to see how it reacts with what is proven and true in his current version of Slackware. Now, the 10.2 changelog is fixes and updates that prove to make Slackware-10.2 the best distribution of Slackware at it's time (not stupid enough to start a flame war by saying best distribution).
Now, if some of the above is correct is there anyway of knowing just how close the next version of Slackware will be compared to the Current changelog set that is available or does Pat keep some surprises for us all. I know others have been around long enough to have some idea what gets done. Remember I'm a Newbie...

You are correct. -current is the 'cutting edge', 'not ready for primetime' version.

10.2 is the latest released version.

As for the 'when' question, there is a HUGE sticky post at the top of this forum on the speculation and rumors.

As of right now, they are very far apart (10.2 vs. -current)...

A bit "offtopic": If you check the -current changelog, you'll see that Slackware 11 is close to a release. Don't know if that information might influence you in any decision you want to make.

Thanks, for clearing that up for me... Yes, I wish the new Slackware was out but just like 10.2 I will still have to keep my eye on the changelogs and make the decision on how to keep it updated. That I guess is a decision we all have to make.
