Slackware current, KDE bugs?


I just updated my system, and I'm having some problems with KDE, first Amarok does not play a few songs in my library, i tried playing the songs with another player and they work fine, and second, there's a bug with the KDE panel, when you have a fresh install of KDE, there appears a couple of launchers in the panel, I've tried to remove them but they always appear after a restart X, and for some reason i have two konqueror launchers instead of one for dolphin and one for konqueror.
Any ideas to solve this?

The Amarok back end has been changed to gstreamer, so you'll want to grab the gst bad/ugly plugins from slackbuilds if you want to play mp3s.

As for the two icons on your panel, remove the task manager (not the whole panel) and add it back again with the 'add widgets' button.

For the two konqueror launchers problem, you have to select dolphin as your default file manager in the system settings and not konqueror.

Though trivia, this creates pretty bad first impression. I don't know why the KDE devs do not using a saner default settings.

There was a bug notice on first boot -- not remember exactly it was though; maybe it's because of *my* hardware.

This bug doesn't happen on newly installation of Slackware 14.0 RC4 with latest update
probably caused by migration from old KDE config files

You meant the two konqueror launcher issue? No, it's not gone. I've just setup a brand-new system with the latest -current today and noticed it immediately after the first boot.

It's happened on 3 out of 3 installs I've done from RC2 onwards..

Agreed. However, I'm running KDE/rc4 on my brand new laptop and KDE has been stellar so far. I've been trying to use KDE off and on again since I started using Slackware in 13.0, but always got annoyed with small glitches or speed issues. It's rock solid in 14.0 (apart from that two launcher issue).

Thank you for all your help, i already fixed this problems (Y) , Now I've discovered another bug? on XFCE when i have my num lock on (led is on) I can't type any numbers, and when the num lock is, well locked (led is off) i can type numbers, so it's basically working the opposite way it is supposed to. Any ideas? this is only in XFCE.

It is glad to know that you could solved your original KDE-related problem. Just to benefit more people from LQ discussions, it would be nice if you can indicate, very briefly, how you managed to solved this issue. I would also suggest (and is just that, a suggestion) that you mark this thread as SOLVED, and create another thread with your last XFCE issue, just to help keep clarity in future cross-references.
