Slackware and FVWM
How come -stable is still using 2.4* when the fvwm documentation states that this is now unsupported and will not have bugs fixed? Ok, I know I can update it myself (which is exactly what I did) but it's nice to have the bundled packages included in slax updates. It's not a problem, more just a query I'd be interested to know the answer to. :)
And before anyone says "use KDE" etc, I hope you know just how powerful fvwm can be! :p |
2.6.1 is in extra/
If I remember correctly, 2.6.had just come out when Pat was finalising 13.37 and hadn't had time to settle in and be considered 'proven', so he left 2.4 as the default and provided the new version in extra/. Seems like a reasonable approach. |
This is the thread that discussed FVWM 2.6 with contributions from Pat Volkerding and Thomas Adam, a FVWM developer. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...elease-875239/
As Pat V said in the Changelog when FVWM 2.6.1 was introduced into /extra, you are on your own with configuration. |
Ah right, never realised it was in/extra (and also that the release was so close to 13.37) - agreed, reasonable approach given the circumstances - thanks for the info! :)
