Slackware and Dovecot
Hi
I am going to use Dovecot for imap and pop3 instead of the default application on Slackware. Do anybody use it on his production servers (with Slackware)? What is your experience with it? What do you think about this combination? |
I used on my server for a while. Works very good and is more advanced that the stock pop3ad especially if you want/need ssl and a bit more control over users.

I'm using docevot in production since version 1.2 in conjunction with qmail/vpopmail and I'm fine with it. It's secure, easy to install and well documented. The community is alive and the support is good. In addition, you can easily manage sieve rules to filter your emails if you install dovecot/pigeonhole.
I recently wrote a guide for slackware here http://notes.sagredo.eu/node/28, you may be interested to take a look to it. |

I was using slackbuilds.org for building dovecot. There are different versions available. dovecot-2.0.8 for Slackware 13.1 and 2.0.12 for Slackware 13.37.
It is safe to use the latest version of it - dovecot-2.0.15? |

To answer your original question: I administer a Slackware64 13.0 server with Dovecot for pop3/imap + ssl and it has run flawlessly. |
