Did you run nvidia-settings as root and save to X configuration file, writing over the xorg.confg in X11 folder? Maybe if you post that xorg.conf file someone can help you here, or the nvidia forum.
Yes, that's what I did. Here are my xorg.conf settings:
My first objective is the get the VIZIO and Acer monitors, attached to XScreen0, to not act as one big screen. Curiously, the Acer monitor is not listed in this xorg.conf, yet it and the VIZIO act as a single screen.
In the xorg.conf, I have 2 monitor sections: one is the VIZIO "VIZ VA19L HDTV10T", and the other is the DELL connected to the 2nd video card "DELL E153FP". I suspect a first step would be to add a "Monitor" section for the Acer, e.g.:
Then I suppose I need to add a "Screen" Section? In the "metamodes" option of Screen0 I see the DVI (Vizio) and VGA (Acer) both listed. I supposed I need to remove the ", VGA-0: ..." bit from Screen0 and create a new Screen2 with that, for example:
These are guesses, I've NEVER messed with xorg.conf before. Screen0 has the option "nvidiaXineramaInfoOrder" "CRT-1", not sure what that does or how it factors into things.
Xinerama is disabled (Option "Xinerama" "0") so I'm not sure what is with the one big desktop sharing (my understanding your screens look like this). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xinerama
I only have one monitor model listed in monitor section. One place the issue could be is metamodes (its the positioning of the monitors) but still Xinerama is disabled so I'm at a loss. The two monitors are being picked up "Option "metamodes" "DVI-I-0: nvidia-auto-select +0+256, VGA-0: nvidia-auto-select +1360+0"
Well Screen 0 and Screen 1 are each one screen. Does it happen with other monitors other than the acer hooked up with the Vizio?
After several months of other priorities I'm back at this! To recap, I have two GeForce GT 730 video cards using the NVIDIA chipset. I have 4 monitors connected, two to each card. The monitors are arranged 2x2, that is 2 monitor positioned above 2 others. On one card I have an old DELL connected to the VGA port and an AOC connected to the HDMI port. The DELL is positioned to the left of the AOC. The AOC is the 'primary' monitor. Above the DELL is a VIZIO connected to the VGA port of the 2nd card and above the AOC is an Acer connected to the DVI port of the 2nd card.
I have installed the latest NVIDIA driver and run the nvidia-settings GUI program to configure the above geometry. It actually went fairly smoothly using the nvidia-settings program. I think I made life a bit difficult for myself by clicking on 'Apply' and telling it to "Apply what it could" during the config process. But, I had it install the generated xorg.conf file, rebooted and I now do have 4 screens with the mouse able to navigate up/down, left/right among the monitors as I describe above. Mission #1 accomplished!
Here's the problem: while I can move my mouse all over, I cannot drag a window (e.g. browser) from one monitor to another. This is a pretty big issue. I can move the mouse to another monitor, right-click, and launch a program there, but that's not what I want.
I'm hoping this is an X-windows config issue and that some X-pert on LQ can help me tweak.
So, nobody is jumping on this one. Perhaps the thread is too old, too complex, and/or too long. I've give it a day or so and if no one responds I'll make a fresh post.

Yes that would be better, even more so as your initial post was about ATI and your current issue is about NVIDIA, which is confusing.
Not a big specialist in working with four monitors, but at least in KDE4, not sure about Plasma5, you have in the Settings the options for handling the screens/monitors.
Also, I think that also in NVidia Control Panel you have similar options, maybe even more detailed. What you need is a big screen over all of them, I guess.

I agree, at least he should rename the thread; myself just happened to follow the OP's adventures, to know his hardware evolution...
