Slackware 9.1/Lucent/Agere DSP (digital signal processing) chipset

Has anyone had success in getting this winmodem to work in Slackware 9.1? I know it works fine with Suse 9.1. If so where did you find the rpm/source/binary and instructions for Slackware that worked with it.

The modem has a supported Lucent/Agere DSP (digital signal processing) chipset
with primary PCI_ID: 11c1:044c

Thanks

Is there a reason to not upgrade to the latest Slackware release?

I haven't seen your particular modem, but since I can't code my way out of an open field, the first thing I try with hardware problems under any OS is find the latest patch/drivers/firmware, because the issue might've been found by someone who can fix it.
