Slackware 9 Installation Problems
Well, I burned my copy of slackware 9 to a cd and rebooted to try install it. Unfortunetly, during the bootup process of the installation cd, i got an error that said the following:
Code: Bad EIP Value I have no idea what this means or how to fix it. I noticed the problem happening around the part where the kernel was trying to load usb modules or something. Any ideas on how this can be fixed would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Note: My BIOS can not boot from the cd since it uses no emulation so I had to create a floppy with sbootmgr on it and then booted from it. |
Try "apm=off" at the prompt during the boot process.
If this solves the problem you need to recompile your kernel without support for apm. If this does not solve the problem, try disconnecting your USB devices until the machine has booted. At any rate, you are looking at a kernel recompile =-]. |
Bummer. I'll give it a try next time I'm on the computer. I'll post a reply on how it goes; hopefully flawlessly :)

I'am having the same problem.
I've burned the slackware 9.0 cd, and when i tried to boot from it, he said Code: Bad EIP value. where do i have to type "apm=off" at the boot? I'll now try to disconnect al my USB devices. edit: yes, disconnecting all the usb devices has helped. thx Kiekeboe100 |
