I can't make it work

When I try to compile the tgz or install the rpm i get segmentation fault


Gaim also won't connect to yahoo

Why do you try to compile? I just got the .rpm file for redhat 9(yeah, i'm using slack 9.1 too) and extracted the contents to the specified dirs, and it just worked... I know, it's less "pro", but it does work :)

Just down from linuxpackages.net and use pkgtool to install.

Yahoo! aren't very friendly. The connection for alternative clients is patchy. See the oracle:-

gaim 0.70 connects to yahoo again.
