slackware 9.1 install freezes

I have downloaded two of the slackware isos, the first 2 discs, since i don't really have a need for the others at this time. I tried installing it on one of my computers, which is a Duron 700 oced to 950 odd (but i think it was around 800 at the time of the install, which is perfectly stable) 256mb ram and a tnt2.

The install gets to the step of selecting what services to run on startup, after i hit ok, it just sits there. I left it for 15-20 minutes, and it just sits there still :/

I rebooted, but obviously hadn't finished the install, (no root pwd etc) and i get disc error when i boot.

The cd doesnt appear to be damaged, my slackware 8.1 cd was worse! :P could the iso have corrupted? Has this happened to anyone else?

Also, one tar.gz file from the install, don't remember which one now, comes up with an error, so i think it could be a corrupt download. It's kind of wierd, out of 5 or so iso's ive ever downloaded, this has never happened, i used DAP as well, took about 12 hours, i didn't pause it either.

So, do you think the iso could be corrupt? has this happened to any of you before?

did you do a md5sum check of the isos???

Squiddy 11-18-2003 07:17 PM

how do i do that?

%md5sum isofilename.iso

It will return a hash. Compare it with the hash available where you got the ISOs. It must be equal. Otherwise, the ISOs are corrupt.
