Slackware 9.1 Font issues

I'm having some trouble getting my non-antialiased fonts looking good in slack 9.1. They looked great in 9.0, but something changed in 9.1 that causes non-antialiased fonts to look "pixel-dirty".

I took a screenshot of what I mean:

Does anyone have any ideas? I found a thread on google that says it may have something to do with BYTE_INTERPRETER not being enabled on the freetype in 9.1, but I tried installing freetype myself with it enabled, as well as using the old freetype from 9.0 but to no avail.

Thanks in advance!

I just installed freetype 2 again on a clean install, and with my windows .ttf's, everything looks great!

Hi,

I have the same problem, in Slack 9.0 the font were ok but after the upgrade the TTF font are pixel dirty as you said. So, which package shall I download ? There is no freetype2.tgz around.

Thank you,
