slackware 9.1 and USB gamepad

Hello all, I'm a recent slackware user, coming from Mandrake (needed something I could set up quickly) actually, used slackware 2.0 for awhile, and liked it alot back then. Anyway, solved most the small problems post install, either through trying it, breaking it, and reinstalling, or through here, the one I can't find is my USB Sidewinder gamepad, during the boot, it says that hid-usb device found Microsoft Sidewinder USB in port 0, and use the usbview from linuxpackages, and it shows up there... anyway, I do a modprobe for /dev/js0 and it says it can't locate module /dev/js0, so far this is the only thing that hasn't worked right, which isn't that big of a deal, I like slackware alot, and especially linux. still use Mandrake on a second computer, but this one is an older P3 450, and I prefer the 35 second boot. Any help would be most apriciated, thank you

That`s because /dev/js0 is a Device, NOT a module.

You`d have to find out what the module for the gamepad is called, and modprobe that.

2 ways to do that (that I know of):

1: Look at the kernel config (make menuconfig/xconfig) and in the HELP paragraph, it will usually tell you what the module is called

2: Search google. People who use that game pad have probably written about it, or problems similar which have been solved.

I write this assuming you have the module compiled and that it's not built-in or hasn't been compiled at all.
