Slackware 9.0?

:newbie: slackware 9.0 beta? is it inside the slackware current?
Sorry, it's a bit confusing for a newbie....

in a nut shell, is it

slackware 9.0 beta = latest slackware current? thx

http://www.distrowatch.com/table.php...tion=slackware Not according to this website description. SW Current is not equal to SW 9.0 beta.

Watch out for the beta linux operating systems ... I tried United Linux beta and RedHat 8.1 beta and they were not exactly very user friendly. Heaps of problems and not really setup for newbies like to play with.

From the slackware-current changelog,
Quote:

Fri Aug 30 14:19:08 PDT 2002
We're happy to announce the initial Slackware-9.0-beta based on gcc-3.2. :-)
Please test it and report any bugs that you find.
a/aaa_base-8.9.9-i386-1.tgz: Edited /etc/slackware-version
So in a nut shell slackware-current = development version that will one day be the next version of slackware, currently in a beta stage for v9.0

Don't upgrade, do a fresh install.

In the slackware directory of the install CD is a file UPDATE.TXT.
